Armstrong Slips To No. 19 In AVCA DII Top 25 Coaches' Poll

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University volleyball squad dropped four spots to No. 19 in the latest AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released today by the organization.

Following its first loss of the season on Wednesday, Armstrong (33-1) tumbled from No. 15 to No. 19 after a 2-1 week that wrapped up the 2011 regular season. The loss came to Flagler, who was one of two teams to enter the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 24.

The Pirates have been ranked in nine straight polls dating back to Sept. 12 and Armstrong continues to lead the nation in victories. This week is the 2011 PBC Tournament in Augusta, Ga., where the Pirates are the No. 1 seed. Armstrong will face No. 8 seed Lander on Friday, Nov. 11, at 5:00 p.m.

Cal State San Bernardino (24-0) is the third new team at the top of the AVCA rankings in the last three weeks, while Minnesota Duluth (27-1) is second, followed by Concordia St. Paul (26-2) in third, Washburn (28-1) in fourth and Tampa (28-1) in fifth.
