No. 17 Pirates Sweep Lander, 3-0, On Friday
GREENWOOD, S.C. - The No. 17-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University volleyball squad stretched its win streak to 18 with a 3-0 Peach Belt Conference road victory over Lander on Friday evening in Greenwood, S.C.
The Pirates (18-0, 6-0 PBC) remained unbeaten on the season by holding Lander (7-10, 1-5 PBC) to an .094 hitting percentage while recording 10 team blocks in the match, Armstrong's fourth match out of its last five with 10 or more blocks, all in league play.
Junior Leia Pittman led the way for the Pirates by hitting .571 with a team-high 10 kills. Junior Brittany Wolf added nine kills and six blocks while hitting .533. Junior Ashley Seal notched 30 assists and a team-high 13 digs as well for Armstrong.
Lander was led by Jordan Rix, who had nine kills, and Jessica Register, who had 26 assists. Madison Kubal added a match-high 16 digs as well.
Armstrong returns to action on Saturday, October 8, traveling to USC Aiken for a 2 p.m. Peach Belt match against the Pacers, as well as a 4 p.m. neutral-site match against Bentley.
