Pirates Win Five Of Seven Flights At UNF Fall Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team won five of seven flights on the final day of the University of North Florida Fall Invitational on Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Pirates captured two doubles flight and three singles flights, finishing the weekend with an impressive 21-2 record in matches that did not involve two Pirates playing against each other.

In doubles play, the duo of seniors Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova defeated the North Florida duo of Cunningham and Hollander, 8-1, for the Flight #1 doubles title.

The Flight #2 doubles final matched up two Armstrong duos as junior Clara Perez and freshman Carolina Prats-Millan knocked off seniors Marlen Hacke and Olga Kalodzitsa, 8-6.

In singles action, Filipovski claimed the Flight #1 singles title with a 6-2, 6-2 win over South Florida's Fanny Fracassi 6-2, 6-2.

The final in Flight #2 singles matched up Krtickova and Prats-Millan with Krtickova winning, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. The Flight #4 singles final also matched up a pair of Pirates as seniors and doubles partners Hacke and Kalodzitsa played with Hacke prevailing, 6-1 6-7 (8), 6-1.

Perez notched a 6-3, 6-1 win over UCF's Sophia Baptista in Flight #3 consolation singles action, while freshman Dora Andrejzski defeated Elizabeth Clayton of Florida A&M, 6-0,6-0, in Flight #5 singles action.

The UNF Fall Invitational wraps up the fall schedule for the Pirates. The Spring schedule will begin for Armstrong in February.
