JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team enjoyed a solid Saturday at the University of North Florida Fall Invitational, going 9-1 for a second consecutive day at the UNF Tennis Courts in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Pirates advanced to the doubles final in all three brackets, beginning with seniors Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova, who downed Charleston Southerns' duo of Hubler and Walters, 8-5, in the Flight #1 bracket.
Seniors Marlen Hacke and Olga Kalodzitsa advanced to the final of the Flight #2 bracket with an 8-4 win over Cesarini and Hepp of Central Florida, while junior Clara Perez and freshman Carolina Prats-Millan defeated Charleston Southern's Nour and Srodowski, 8-5, in the Flight #3 bracket.
In singles action, the Pirates' Filipovski defeated Central Florida's Josephine Haraldson, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the Flight #1 final. Prats-Millan advanced to the Flight #2 final with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Yvonne Hubler of Charleston Southern, where she will face Krtickova, who beat North Florida's Marina Cunningham, 6-3, 6-1.
Hacke defeated Central Florida's Clare Mendell, 6-0, 6-1, to advance to the Flight #4 final, where she will meet Kalodzitsa, who beat Annika Hepp of Central Florida, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Freshman Dora Andrejzski lost her Flight #5 semifinal match, 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (1) to Charleston Southern's Nicoline Lucke
In consolation action, Perez defeated Charleston Southern's Alexandra Walters, 6-2, 6-3, in Flight #3.
Play concludes at the University of North Florida Fall Invitational on Sunday with the finals of all singles and doubles brackets.
