CLEMSON, S.C. - Four Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis players are into their respective singles bracket finals after Saturday's action in the Duckworth Family Fall Classic, hosted by Clemson University.
In the singles flight #4, freshman Carolina Prats-Millan defeated Kennesaw State's Jana Hueckinghaus, 6-0, 6-3, as well as Clemson's Yui Lynn Miao, 6-4, 6-1, to advance to the bracket final on Sunday.
Senior Marlen Hacke is into the singles flight #5 final after a 6-3, 6-1 win over Beth Williamson of Winthrop and a 6-4, 6-4 win over Taylor Cohen of USC Upstate. Senior Olga Kalodzitsa advanced to the singles flight #6 final with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lipscomb's Deahna Welcher and a 6-3, 6-3 win over Wofford's Julia Paulson.
Freshman Dora Andrejszki is the final Armstrong player to advance to a final as she defeated Emily McNall of UNC Asheville, 6-2, 6-2, as well as Taylor Carlson of Wofford, 3-6, 6-1, (10-2), in the singles flight #8.
The other three Armstrong players will take part in their respective brackets' third-place matches after splitting matches on Saturday. Senior Aleksandra Filipovski defeated Andressa Garcia of Winthrop, 6-0, 6-1, in the singles flight #1 but fell to Cindy Chala of Virginia Commonwealth, 6-4, 7-6 (2).
Junior Clara Perez defeated Winthrop's Caitlin Cridland, 6-2, 6-1, but lost to Clemson's Tristen Dewar, 3-6, 6-4, (10-1), in the singles flight #2. Senior Barbora Krtickova defeated Wofford's Audrey Coventry, 6-4, 6-2, but lost to Clemson's Jessy Romples, 7-6 (1), 6-4, in singles flight #3.
Play concludes in the Clemson Duckworth Family Fall Classic on Sunday with the championship and third-place matches in all eight singles brackets.
