CHARLESTON, S.C. - Armstrong Atlantic State University senior Marlen Hacke and freshman Dora Andrejszki each won twice in singles play at the College of Charleston Invitational on Friday, opening up the Fall women's tennis season for the Pirates in Charleston, S.C.
Playing in the A1 Singles bracket, Hacke defeated Kourtney Kowal of Coastal Carolina, 6-3, 6-2, in her first-round match, then defeated Stephanie N'tcha of Samford, 6-4, 6-1. She will play in one semi-final match of the bracket at Noon on Saturday.
Andrejszki, meanwhile, made her collegiate debut for the Pirates by playing in the A2 singles bracket and defeating Emily Mallory of Samford, 6-1, 6-1. She then knocked off Honami Yazawa of Coastal Carolina, 6-3, 6-2, to move into the A2 singles semifinals, where she will play at 1:30 p.m.
Play continues at the invitational through Saturday and Concludes on Sunday.
