Women's Tennis Ranked No. 2 In Latest ITA National Rankings
SAVANNAH, Ga. - The defending NCAA Division II national champion Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team will head to Arizona for the Round of 16 ranked No. 2 as of the latest ITA Division II National Rankings, released late Wednesday.
The Pirates (26-1) trail only unbeaten Barry (26-0) in the rankings. The two teams met in Florida on March 22 with Barry taking a 5-4 victory. The brackets in Arizona set up to where the two teams could meet in the second round on May 9.
BYU Hawaii (27-1) is ranked No. 3, followed by Hawaii Pacific (19-2) and Abilene Christian (26-5). Columbus State (22-3), out of the Peach Belt Conference, is ranked sixth and will face fifth-ranked Abilene Christian in the first round of the NCAA's Round of 16 next week.
Individually, the Pirates again sport five singles players in the national ranking, led by junior Aleksandra Filipovski, who is ranked No. 3 - her highest singles ranking in her career. Sophmore Clara Perez cracks the Top 10 as she is ranked No. 8, also her highest singles ranking. Barbora Krtickova is ranked No. 13, while Marlen Hacke is ranked No. 17 and Olga Kalodzitsa is ranked No. 27.
In doubles, the duo of Filipovski and Krtickova are ranked No. 2, while the duo of Hacke and Kalodzitsa are ranked No. 5.

Armstrong opens up action in the NCAA Round of 16 on Wednesday, May 8, at 1:00 p.m. Central Time taking on No. 43 Northwood in Surprise, Ariz.
