Krtickova, Filipovski Fall In First Round Of USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Juniors Barbora Krtickova and Aleksandra Filipovski suffered first-round losses on Thursday at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, hosted at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

The pair lost to Gabriella DeSimone and Zoe Scandalis of Southern California, 8-3, in doubles action in the morning. The duo will play in consolation doubles action on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.

In singles play, Krtickova battled No. 14-ranked Kate Turvy of Northwestern and lost a third-set tiebreaker to Turvy, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4), in the first round. She will battle Natalie Beazant of Rice in consolation singles action on Friday afternoon.

Krtickova and Filipovski are the only non-Division I players in the field, earning a wild card entry by capturing the ITA Small College National Championships titles in October.

Play continues through Sunday in the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Flushing, N.Y.
