Armstrong Women's Tennis Ranked No. 3 In ITA Fall Rankings


SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team is ranked No. 3 in the nation with the release of the Fall NCAA Division II rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Pirates, NCAA semifinalists a season ago, have six players that appear in both the singles and doubles rankings, which take into account the 2011 fall season, including the ITA Regional Championships and the ITA National & Small College Championships.

Sophomore Barbora Krtickova is ranked No. 2 in the nation in singles after finishing runner-up in the ITA DII National singles bracket in October, while sophomore Aleksandra Filipovski is ranked No. 6 in singles. Sophomore Marlen Hacke checks in at No. 15, while senior Kathleen Henry is ranked No. 22 and freshman Clara Perez is ranked No. 29. Finally, sophomore Olga Kalodzitsa is ranked No. 50.

In doubles, the duo of Filipovski and Krtickova are ranked No. 2 in the nation by virtue of their runner-up finish at the DII National doubles bracket. The duo of Henry and Perez, ITA Southeast Region finalists, are ranked No. 9, while the duo of Hacke and Kalodzitsa are ranked No. 25.

Armstrong will open the 2012 spring season on Feb. 3-5 at the Clemson Winter Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
