SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's soccer squad is ranked No. 8 in the latest NSCAA/HendrickCars.Com Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released today. The No. 8 ranking ties for the highest national ranking ever achieved by the Pirates.
The Pirates (7-0-2) moved up one spot after a pair of wins last week, extending their season-long unbeaten streak to nine. AASU has been ranked No. 8 in the nation on two other occasions - on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, 2007. The Pirates have been ranked in each of the six polls so far this season and AASU has appeared in nine straight national rankings, dating back to November of 2009.
AASU joins Columbus State, North Georgia and UNC Pembroke as Peach Belt schools that receive mention in the poll this week. Columbus State dropped one spot to No. 3, while North Georgia entered the poll for the first time in school history at No. 25. UNC Pembroke continues to be among those teams receiving votes.
