NAIA Power Lindsey Wilson Picks Up 4-1 Win Over Pirates

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The No. 1-ranked women's soccer team in NAIA, Lindsey Wilson, used three first-half goals to pick up a 4-1 victory over host Armstrong Atlantic on Wednesday afternoon at AT&T Field in Savannah.
The Blue Raiders (11-1) extended their current win streak to six with the win, while the Pirates (7-4-3) saw their four match unbeaten streak come to a close.
The first tally of the match came in the 14th minute as Rikke Botcher's cross from the right side deflected to the foot of Caitlin Burke just outside the box, where her strike beat AASU keeper Tracey Mitchell for the first goal of the match.
Lindsey Wilson would take a 2-0 lead thanks to another fortunate deflection as a clearance by the AASU defense found its way back into the box and the foot of Satsuki Kato, who put in the easy goal in the 28th minute.
The backbreaker would come just seconds before halftime as, in the 45th minute, Kimmia Parker used a pass from Yolanda Hamilton to score her team-leading 12th goal of the season with just 37 seconds until intermission.
In the second half, reigning PBC Player of the Week Kristin Burton would extend her goal scoring streak to six matches, as Daviana Garcia's flick-on pass from Jamie Craine settled in front of Burton at the top of the box. Burton would beat Lindsey Wilson keeper Carrie Revlett for her PBC-leading 15th goal of the season and bring AASU back into the match.
Parker had the answer for the Blue Raiders, however, as less than five minutes later, she would take a loose ball in the box, dribble past a diving Samantha Held in goal for the Pirates and put in her second goal of the match in the 79th minute, clinching the victory.
Lindsey Wilson held a slim 12-10 edge in shots, while earning an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Revlett made three saves in net for the Blue Raiders, while Mitchell made two saves in her one half of action and Held made one in her half.
AASU returns to action on Saturday, October 18, facing its third consecutive ranked opponent with a 7:00 p.m. match at Tampa. Lindsey Wilson is next in action on Monday, October 20, with a 3:00 p.m. conference match against West Virginia Tech.
