Armstrong Women's Golf Ties For 7th At Ralph Hargett Memorial

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's golf team fired a final-round 331 to finish tied for seventh at the Ralph Hargett Memorial on Tuesday, hosted by Wingate University at the Olde Sycamore Golf Club in Charlotte.
The Pirates finished the tournament with a 657 total, tied with Florida Tech for seventh in the 17-team field. Barry (625) captured the team title by 14 strokes over Columbus State (639), with Queens (NC) (640) finishing third, Tusculum (643) fourth and Carson-Newman (648) fifth.
Senior Kim Knox carded a four-over-par 76 to pace the Pirates, finishing tied for third individually with a 154 total and earned All-Tournament honors. Sophomore Jenna Birch shot a 78 on Tuesday to finish tied for 14th individually with a 159 total, while junior Kelly Pearce shot an 84 to finish tied for 48th with a 169 total.
Senior Victoria Bennett shot a 93 to finish in 72nd place with a 178 total. Sophomore Kristen Sammarco, who shot a 77 in the second round, was disqualified for not signing her scorecard.
Armstrong returns to action on Monday and Tuesday, April 9-10, at the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Championships in Callaway Gardens, hosted by Columbus State University.
