Women's Basketball Picked Seventh In Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong State University women's basketball team has been picked to finish seventh in a preseason vote of Peach Belt Conference coaches, released today by league officials.

The Pirates received 93 votes in the poll. Defending PBC Tournament champion Lander (152) received seven first-place votes to pace the poll, while Francis Marion (149) received three first place votes and was picked to finish second. Augusta (141) was picked to finish third, followed by defending regular season PBC champion Columbus State (132), Clayton State (116) and North Georgia (107) ahead of Armstrong State.

Georgia College (83) was picked eighth, followed by Young Harris (71), USC Aiken (66), Flagler (55), UNC Pembroke (48), Georgia Southwestern (40) and Montevallo (21) round out the poll.

Armstrong State went 16-12 in 2015-16, finishing fifth in the PBC's East Division with an 8-11 mark. The Pirates return seven players from last season's squad, including senior Brigitta Barta, who is on pace to become Armstrong State's all-time leading scorer this season. Seven newcomers join the squad this season for head coach Fala Bullock.
