Women's Basketball Inks Keyondra "Mercedes" Jenkins For 2016-17

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong State University head women's basketball coach Fala Bullock has announced the signing of Keyondra "Mercedes" Jenkins to play for the Pirates in the upcoming 2016-17 season.

Jenkins played for two seasons at Central Georgia Technical College, averaging 15 points per game as a freshman in 2013-14 and earning All-GCAA Second Team honors. She averaged 4.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals as well for the Titans that season.

As a sophomore, Jenkins averaged 15.1 points per game while shooting 44.7 percent from three-point range, helping the Titans to a 21-9 overall record and a 14-4 GCAA mark. She earned honorable mention All-American honors that season while averaging 4.7 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game.

Jenkins was selected as one of the top-40 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Student-Athletes, and was invited to participate in the sixth annual NJCAA Coaches Association All-Star Weekend in Niceville, Fla.

At Fayette County High School, Jenkins earned All-Metro Atlanta Girls Honorable Mention accolades in 2013 from the Atlanta Tipoff Club. She led Fayette County High School to a 21-7 record and to the 2013 Georgia Girls State Basketball Tournament Semifinals. In 2010-2011 she helped win a Georgia Girls Basketball State Championship.

Jenkins joins the Pirates' other five players to make up the Pirates' incoming class for the 2016-17 season. These six players join six returners from last season's squad that went 16-12 overall and tied a school record for the best start in school history, beginning the season 8-0.
