SAVANNAH, Ga. - As the Armstrong State University softball squad prepares for the NCAA Southeast Super Regional on Thursday, the Pirates learned that three players have earned All-Region honors for the 2017 season.
The NFCA Division II All-Southeast Region squad, voted on by the region coaches, features a pair of Pirates on the second team. Senior Jane Trzaska was named the second-team Utility/Pitcher while sophomore catcher Logan Harrell was named the second-team catcher.
The D2CCA All-Southeast Region squad, meanwhile, features Trzaska as the second-team Utility/Pitcher and senior Hannah Reppert as the second-team first baseman. That team is voted on by region Sports Information Directors.
Trzaska was the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year while also playing in the outfield for the Pirates. The Glen Ellyn, Ill., native is 16-7 in the circle with a 1.33 ERA, giving up just 85 hits in 147.1 innings pitched, limiting opposing batters to a .163 average. She also is hitting .308 with eight home runs and 29 RBI.
Harrell earns her first All-Region honor for the Pirates as the Pembroke, Ga., native is hitting .353 with 11 doubles, 12 home runs and 39 RBI. She was a first-team All-Peach Belt Conference catcher this season and her .704 slugging percentage currently ranks third in the Peach Belt.
Reppert adds another All-Region honor to her full resume as the fifth-year senior earns a spot on the D2CCA team for a second straight season. The Loganville, Ga., native is hitting .317 with 14 home runs and 37 RBI. She is tied for the Peach Belt Conference home run lead after blasting three home runs in the NCAA Southeast Regional over the weekend and her 57 career home runs are the second-most in Armstrong State and Peach Belt Conference history.
