ORLANDO, Fla. - The No. 17-ranked Armstrong State University softball squad closed out its weekend action at the Diamond 9 College Citrus Classic in Orlando with a 4-1 win over Lynn University on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates (10-5) end up 3-2 on the weekend, winning their third straight contest. Lynn falls to 8-6 on the year with the loss. Armstrong State returns to action on Saturday, March 4th, visiting Young Harris for a 2:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader.
Lynn pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, and held onto that lead until the sixth inning. The Pirates tied the game in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Katie Collins.
Trzaska (3-3) picked up the win with a complete-game performance, giving up four hits and one unearned run, walking one while striking out seven. Francais Olexa (3-3) took the loss for the Knights, giving up 11 hits and four runs - three earned - in seven innings, walking one while striking out seven.
Natalie Corbin went 3-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Pirates at the plate, while Trzaska and Parrish each had a pair of hits. Olexa went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Lynn.
