ORLANDO, Fla. - The No. 17-ranked Armstrong State University softball squad picked up a pair of wins at the Diamond 9 College Citrus Classic on Saturday in Orlando. The Pirates defeated Spring Hill College, 4-3, and Eckerd College, 3-1.

The wins avenge extra-inning losses to both schools from Friday's action in the Classic and pushes the Pirates' record to 9-5. Armstrong State wraps up action in the Classic on Sunday with an 11:45 a.m. contest against Lynn University.

In the first game of the day, the Pirates built a 4-0 lead on Spring Hill College, thanks to a solo home run from freshman Tazha Williams, two solo home runs from sophomore Macy Coleman and an RBI single from sophomore Logan Harrell.

Spring Hill rallied with three runs in the ninth, but senior Jane Trzaska closed out the complete-game win, improving to 2-3 on the year by scattering eight hits and three runs over seven innings, walking one while striking out six.

The second game saw the Pirates defeat the Tritons behind sophomore Sierra Peebles' complete-game performance, striking out six and giving up just one run to improve to 6-2 on the year. Sophomore Connor Weaver had two hits and an RBI, while Harrell added an RBI double and Collins had a sacrifice fly to account for Armstrong State's scoring.
