Pirates Place Two On PBC Softball All-Academic Squad


SAVANNAH, Ga. - The No. 9-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University softball squad placed two players on the 2012 Peach Belt Conference's All-Academic Team, released today by league officials. Junior outfielder Shelby Duff and sophomore outfielder Lauren Wilcox each earned spots on the squad.

Duff was named to the team for a second straight season. The Springfield, Ga., native carries a 3.63 GPA in health science and also earned All-PBC honors this season by hitting .418 with six home runs and 29 RBIs, ranking second in the league in batting average and runs scored (53).

Wilcox, meanwhile, earns her first career All-Academic honor by carrying a 3.62 GPA in biology. The Hazlehurst, Ga., native is hitting .180 this season with two home runs and seven RBIs.

The Pirates next open up action in the 2012 NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday, hosting Flagler at 2:30 p.m. at the Armstrong Softball Field.
