Caitlin Campbell Named PBC Softball Freshman of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University freshman pitcher Caitlin Campbell has been named the Peach Belt Conference's softball Player of the Week, announced today by league officials.

Campbell hurled a two-hit shutout, striking out five, in No. 7 Armstrong's 2-0 win at Flagler on Saturday.  She did not allow a runner to reach second base after the first inning and faced just three over the minimum for her third shutout of the year and first in PBC play.  The Huntersville, N.C., native gave up no walks in the game and set down the side in order four times, including the seventh inning.  The win was her 17th of the year, third-most in the Peach Belt.

This is the first weekly honor for Campbell in the Peach Belt.

Campbell and the Pirates return to action on Friday, April 13, visiting USC Aiken for a 4:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader in Aiken, S.C.
