Softball Remains No. 2 In NCAA Region Rankings

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University softball squad remained No. 2 in the NCAA's Southeast Region rankings, released today.

In the final regular season NCAA Southeast Region rankings, the Pirates are No. 2, behind only North Georgia. These rankings determine who will advance to the NCAA Championships with the three automatic bid recipients from the Peach Belt, South Atlantic and Conference Carolinas joining five at-large bid recipients in the 2012 NCAA DII Softball Championships.

Lenoir-Rhyne is No. 3 in the Southeast Region rankings, followed by Augusta State, Columbus State, Catawba, Flagler, USC Aiken, Anderson and Francis Marion.

The 2012 NCAA DII Softball Championship field will be announced on Monday, April 30th, at 10:00 a.m. on NCAA.com. If the rankings hold, the Pirates would host one of two NCAA Southeast Regionals on May 4-6, the first time in program history that Armstrong will host an NCAA postseason softball event.
