Men's Cross Country Picked Seventh In 2016 PBC Preseason Coaches Poll

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong State University men's cross country team has been picked to finish seventh in a preseason poll of Peach Belt Conference coaches, released today.

The Pirates, who finished seventh at last seasons' Peach Belt Conference meet, received 35 points in the poll, including one third-place vote, one fourth-place vote and one fifth-place vote. Two coaches picked the Pirates to finish sixth, one seventh and three picked Armstrong State eighth.

Defending Peach Belt champions UNC Pembroke (79 points) was picked first, followed by Augusta (75) and Columbus State (58). Flagler and Georgia College tied for fourth in the poll with 53 points, followed by Young Harris (36) just ahead of the Pirates. Montevallo (30), Clayton State (22) and Francis Marion (9) rounded out the poll.

Armstrong State opens the 2016 season on Friday, September 2nd, hosting a dual meet against fellow PBC foe Georgia College. It will be the first time Armstrong State cross country has hosted a meet on campus in nearly 25 years.
