Pirates Stay No. 1 In ITA DII Men's Tennis Rankings

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University men's tennis team remained atop the ITA Divsion II Men's Tennis national rankings, released late Wednesday by the organization. The Pirates are the lone unbeaten team in DII men's tennis and are No. 1 for a second straight ranking.
The Pirates (26-0) head to Louisville, Ky., and the NCAA's Round of 16 as the top-ranked team searching for the program's third NCAA DII Men's Tennis national title. The ranking released Wednesday is the final regular season ranking of the year.
Armstrong has all six singles starters nationally ranked in singles as well as two duos ranked in doubles. Sophomore Georgi Rumenov is the top-ranked singles player in the nation, while seniors Eudaldo Bonet and Mikk Irdoja are ranked No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, giving the Pirates three of the top five singles players in DII.
Junior Matus Mydla is ranked No. 12, while freshman Sven Lalic is ranked No. 28 and sophomore Pedro Scocuglia is ranked No. 38.
In doubles, the duo of Rumenov and Irdoja remain the top-ranked doubles team in the nation. Lalic and Scocuglia are ranked No. 17.
The Pirates will open up play in the NCAA Round of 16 on May 16 at 2:00 p.m., taking on Queens (NY) at the Top Gun Tennis Academy in Louisville.
