Armstrong Men's Tennis Ascends To No. 1 National Ranking
SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University men's tennis team reclaimed its status at the top-ranked team in the nation late Wednesday with the release of the DII national rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Pirates (16-0) moved up from No. 3 to No. 1 in the latest release and are the top-ranked team in the nation for a fifth consecutive season - the Pirates were the top-ranked team in capturing the 2008 and 2009 titles, while earning regular-season No. 1 rankings in both 2010 and 2011. West Florida is ranked No. 2, followed by Barry, Lynn and previous top-ranked Valdosta State, rounding out the top five.
Armstrong sophomore Georgi Rumenov is the top-ranked singles player in the nation with the latest singles release, while senior Eudaldo Bonet is ranked No. 3, senior Mikk Irdoja is ranked No. 5 and junior Matus Mydla is ranked No. 10, giving the Pirates four Top 10-ranked singles players.
Freshman Sven Lalic is ranked No. 32 in singles, while sophomore Pedro Scocuglia is ranked No. 35.
In doubles, the duo of Irdoja and Rumenov check in at No. 1, while Lalic and Scocuglia are ranked No. 15.

Armstrong returns to action on Saturday, March 31st, hosting No. 10 Francis Marion in a 2:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match at Bacon Park.
