Georgi Rumenov Earns Second PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Honor

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University sophomore Georgi Rumenov has earned his second PBC Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor, announced today by league officials.

Rumenov helped the No. 3-ranked Pirates open up their Peach Belt slate successfully by winning his singles and doubles match against No. 13 Augusta State in a rematch of the 2011 PBC Championship match. The Barcelona, Spain, native beat No. 30-ranked Bernardo Fernandes, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, then teamed with Mikk Irdoja to knock off the No. 20-ranked doubles duo of Henrique Boturao and Fernandes, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles.

A perfect 4-0 in singles with three of those four wins coming against nationally-ranked opponents, Rumenov is also now 4-0 on the season in doubles. He earned the league's first Player of the Week honor of 2012 back on February 7.

Rumenov and the Pirates will be next in action on Wednesday, February 22, taking on No. 15 Georgia College in Peach Belt Conference action in Milledgeville, Ga.
