No. 25 Pirates Third At GC Bobcat Invitational On Monday
EATONTON, Ga. - The No. 25-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University men's golf squad fired rounds of 279 and 284 to sit in third place after the first day of action at the Georgia College Bobcat Invitational on Monday at Cuscowilla Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga.
The Pirates are nine strokes off the pace after a 563 total. No. 3-ranked Barry leads the 17-team field after a 554 total, while No. 7-ranked Nova Southeastern is in second with a 557 total. No. 18-ranked UNC Pembroke is fourth afer a 564 total while host and No. 22-ranked Georgia College is tied with top-ranked Lynn for fifth with a 567 total.
Junior Jacob Tilton paces the Pirates after the first day of action after rounds of 65 and 70, tying for third individually with a five-under-par 135 total over the par-70, 6,847-yard course. Freshman Cory Griffin is tied for 30th individually after rounds of 69 and 74 for a three-over-par 143 score, while sophomore Gus Wagoner is tied for 32nd after consecutive rounds of 72 for a four-over-par 144 score.
Senior Matt Motes shot rounds of 73 and 72, tying for 37th individually with a five-over-par 145 total. Junior Tyler Erickson rounded out the Pirates' scoring with rounds of 79 and 70, tying for 64th with a nine-over-par 149 score.
Play concludes in the Bobcat Invitational with a single round of 18 holes on Tuesday with Armstrong's tee times beginning at 9:50 a.m.
