No. 18 Men's Golf Fourth At Laker Collegiate Invitational

HAMPTON, Ga. - The No. 18-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University men's golf team shot rounds of 301 and 300 on Monday to sit tied for fourth place after the first day of the Laker Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Clayton State at the Crystal Lakes Golf & Country Club in Hampton, Ga.
The Pirates' 601 total is 21 strokes behind first-day leader UNC Pembroke (580), while Georgia Southwestern (591) and West Georgia (592) are second and third, respectively. Coker College is tied with the Pirates at 601, rounding out the top five teams in the nine-team field.
Senior Matt Motes carded rounds of 72 and 74 on Monday to sit tied for seventh individually after his two-over-par 146 total. Freshman Cory Griffin is in 10th place after rounds of 76 and 71 for a three-over-par 147 total, while sophomore Travis Williamson is in 26th place after rounds of 75 and 78 for a 153 total.
Junior Tyler Erickson is tied for 32nd individually after consecutive rounds of 78, placing him tied for 32nd with a 156 total, and junior Jared Wagenaar is tied for 37th after rounds of 81 and 77 for a 158 total. Senior Dustin Allen, playing as an individual, is tied for 27th individually after rounds of 79 and 75 for a 154 total.
Play concludes in the Laker Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday with a single round of 18 holes, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
