Matt Motes Named PBC Men's Golfer of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University senior Matt Motes has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, released today by league officials.

Motes notched his fourth Top 10 finish in the five tournaments he has played in this season by shooting a two-under-par 214 total at the Matlock Collegiate Classic, hosted by Florida Southern. He carded his two lowest rounds of the year - a first-round 69 and a final-round 70 - en route to the sixth place individual finish, leading Armstrong to a fifth-place team finish.

The Augusta, Ga., native leads the Pirates and ranks fourth in the Peach Belt Conference currently with a 72.54 stroke average. This is Motes' second career PBC Men's Golfer of the Week award as he was previously the league's Golfer of the Week on March 12, 2010.

Motes and the No. 20-ranked Pirates will be next in action hosting the Armstrong Pirate Invitational on February 27-28 at Savannah Quarters Country Club.
