FLORENCE, S.C. - The Armstrong State University men's basketball team picked up its third straight Peach Belt Conference road win with Wednesday evening's 85-82 victory over host Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.
The Pirates have now won three straight PBC games away from home for the first time since February 4-25, 2009, when Armstrong State won four straight road league contests. Armstrong State improves to 10-12 overall and 5-8 in the PBC with the win, while FMU falls to 8-13 overall and 4-9 in the PBC with the loss.
Armstrong State led by four, 21-17, midway through the first half but Francis Marion would take a six-point lead into the break, 44-38, behind Detrek Browning's 13 first-half points.

With one minute left in regulation and the Pirates holding an 85-78 lead, Francis Marion got a layup by Browning on an inbounds play, then a steal and a layup by Brandon Parker that cut the lead to three, 85-82, with 46 seconds left. The Pirates would miss the front end of a one-and-one trip to the line, but the Patriots missed three three-point shot attempts in the final 10 seconds to try and send the game to overtime.
