Men's Basketball Picked 12th in PBC Preseason Coaches' Poll

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong State University men's basketball team has been picked to finish 12th in a preseason vote of Peach Belt Conference coaches, released today by league officials.

The Pirates received 59 votes in the poll. Augusta University (163) received nine first-place votes to lead the poll, while Young Harris (138) received two first-place votes and was picked to finish second. Montevallo (137) was picked to finish third, while defending PBC tournament champion Lander received two first-place votes and is picked fourth with 123 points, along with Columbus State.

UNC Pembroke (117) is picked sixth, followed by Clayton State (109), Georgia College (68), Francis Marion (64), USC Aiken (60) and North Georgia (60) ahead of the Pirates. Georgia Southwestern (27) and Flagler (26) round out the poll.

Armstrong State went 12-15 overall and 10-9 in the PBC in 2015-16, finishing third in the East Division. The Pirates return three players from last season's squad, including the PBC's leader in assists, senior Jamison Jeffers. Thirteen newcomers join the squad this season for head coach Evans Davis.
