Armstrong State Mourns Passing Of Doyle Kelley

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong State University athletic department is saddened to report the passing of former men's basketball and baseball player Doyle Kelley, who died Friday evening at the age of 69.

Kelley was a member of the Armstrong State College men's basketball and baseball teams for two seasons, from 1967-69, as the Pirates began four-year collegiate play on the Southside campus. Graduating from ASC in 1969, he began coaching at Jenkins HS as a 22-year old and would go on to a distinguished career at Savannah Christian, coaching the Raiders in many sports from 1973-2011.

A citation recipient into the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame, Kelley was part of 18 state titles in three sports — football, basketball and golf — at Savannah Christian. Read more about his career from the Savannah Morning News.
