Patterson was named as a first-team designated hitter by the D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) while also earning second-team honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). The senior from Snellville, Ga., led the Pirates offensively in 2017, hitting .377 with seven home runs and 62 RBI. He ranked fifth in the league in RBI, eighth in walks and tied both an Armstrong State and Peach Belt Conference single season record this year with three grand slam home runs. Patterson will advance to national balloting for possible D2CCA All-American honors.
Warren, meanwhile, earned second-team spots in the outfield on both the D2CCA and NCBWA All-Region squad. The Macon, Ga., native hit .420 with one home run, 28 RBI and a team-best 23 stolen bases in 2017. Warren had the highest batting average for an Armstrong State player since Roman Miestowski hit .445 for the Pirates in 1992, and he ranked second in the PBC in both batting average and stolen bases this season, while ending the year on a 29-game hitting streak.
One more All-Region squad is still to be released, that coming from the American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA). The ABCA squad will be released in conjunction with the DII Baseball Championships on May 27-June 3 in Grand Prairie, Texas.
