SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong State University junior catcher Will Browning has been named the Peach Belt Conference's baseball Player of the Week, announced today by league officials.
Browning clubbed his first two collegiate home runs en route to a big week for the Pirates, hitting .538 and slugging 1.154 as Armstrong State went 3-1. The junior from Hazelhurst, Ga., went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBI in a 23-7 win over Davis & Elkins on Saturday.
He then delivered a three-run home run on Sunday in a 3-for-4 performance, adding a double and four runs scored in a 17-7 win over the Senators. Browning also threw out two of four potential basestealers on the week (50%).
This is the first PBC weekly honor for Browning, and he is the second straight Pirate to earn PBC Baseball Player of the Week honors, following Zack Goble's honor last week.
Browning and the Pirates will next be in action on Wednesday, hosting USC Beaufort in a 2:00 p.m. contest at Pirate Field.
