Clayton Miller Named PBC Baseball Player of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State University sophomore catcher/designated hitter Clayton Miller has been named the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Player of the Week, announced today by league officials.

Miller helped the No. 21-ranked Pirates achieve a three-game sweep of WVIAC tournament champion Concord over the weekend by hitting .583 with a .917 slugging percentage, driving in nine runs in the three wins.

The Augusta, Ga., native went 4-for-5 with a double and his first career home run, driving in four in Saturday's 17-10 win over the Mountain Lions. Miller then followed that up with four RBIs and three runs scored in Sunday's 18-4 win. He currently ranks fifth in the PBC in batting average at .500 and Miller has collected at least one hit in all five games he has played so far this season.

This is Miller's first PBC Player of the Week award in his career - he was a PBC Freshman of the Week honoree on March 8 of 2011.

Miller and the Pirates return to action on Friday, February 17th, hosting No. 18 Southern Indiana in the first game of a three-game series with the Screaming Eagles at 2:00 p.m. at Pirate Field.
