SAVANNAH, Ga. - The AlphaGraphics Armstrong State Student-Athlete of the Month for December is redshirt freshman men's basketball player Corey Tillery.
AlphaGraphics and the Armstrong State University athletic department are teaming up again this year to honor one student-athlete each month that best represents the Pirates' drive to succeed on the field and in the classroom. The Pirates have won the Peach Belt Conference Commissioner's Cup four out of the last five years while 58% of our student-athletes carried a GPA of 3.0 or better last year. This kind of success can not happen without the efforts of our outstanding student-athletes.
A native of Atlanta and a product of Douglas County HS, Tillery averaged 17.4 points per game in the Pirates' five games in December. He hit at least three three-pointers in all five games and had a high of 25 points at Coastal Georgia on December 11th.
Tillery currently ranks second in the Peach Belt Conference in three-pointers made and is third in free throw percentage. Undecided in major, Tillery carried a 3.25 GPA for the Fall 2016 semester.
